Your Base Camp
to Discover the Kingdom.

Glenbeigh — Gleann Beithe, the Valley of the Birch Trees —
sits on the Iveragh Peninsula at the head of Dingle Bay.

County Kerry brings together mountain scenery, sandy beaches, rocky headlands and the lakes of Killarney National Park. It is a place for walking, cycling, golf, fishing, kayaking, windsurfing and horse riding — or simply touring and enjoying the villages along the way.

Glenbeigh’s pubs and restaurants offer places to pause, with opportunities to hear traditional music. The Seefin Mountains rise behind the village, and Rossbeigh’s sand and dunes are close by.

Kerry has long been known as “the Kingdom”. No one is quite sure why. One explanation goes back to the county’s Irish name, Ciarraí, “the people of Ciar”: the old kingdom of Ciar, son of the legendary Fergus mac Róich. Whatever the reason, Kerry people wear the name with pride.
